2006 Convention will be held in Kearney, Nebraska

Throughout history, there come individuals who find it somewhere deep within themselves to pursue their dreams and push past the boundaries that confine the ordinary. The adventurous men and women who pioneered deep into the nation's heartland and beyond showed a fierce determination to make a better life for themselves, their families, and those who would follow after.

Their determination set a course that would change a nation.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to recognize those pioneers who have touched our own lifetimes as well. This June, TACA will journey into the heart of our nation Celebrating the Pioneering Spirit of Preston Tucker and his dream to push past the confines of the ordinary with the extraordinary—the Tucker '48.

Join us June 22nd – 25th in Kearney (pronounced "CAR-knee), Nebraska for an exciting weekend Celebrating the Pioneering Spirit of the old west, and of Preston Tucker and his dream car.

The Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center of Kearney is offering us all the comforts of home in Central Nebraska's premier convention facility! With award-winning food and service—and not one, but two indoor waterslides for kids and adults alike—this is one convention you won't want to miss! You can view photos of the rooms, facilities, indoor water fun-center, restaurants, and amenities at www.heartlandhotels.com . The Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center is located at 110 2nd Ave., Kearney, NE. Make your reservations directly with the hotel at 308-237-5971 by May 22nd and mention you're with the Tucker club to receive the special $84.95 per night, plus tax. Please note that in order to receive this special group rate, you need to call the Kearney Holiday Inn directly and not the worldwide reservation center.

So, whether you're driving in, flying in (Kearney or Lincoln Airports), or joining up with a wagon train into the nation's heartland this summer—Be sure to "cowboy up" for Celebrating the Pioneering Spirit this June in Kearney!

Tucker convention

Postby Phantomphan » Tue Feb 14, 2006 4:31 pm

Greetings Tucker group!

I have been made aware of the club convention in Nebraska. In the past, have many Tucker cars showed up? What goes on for the 4 days this convention is set to run?

I would love to visit from California and wish to know what to possibly expect at a convnetion. I would enjoy getting to see a few Tuckers all together at one place.

Have there ever been any gatherings or discussions about actually having a Tucker get together at the old Tucker facility in Chicago? That would be kinda neat I think.

Thank you to Tuckerfan1053 who replied to my post about dimensions of Carioca

Phantom-

You're about 7 months late. The 2005 Convention was in Chicago and we did venture to the site of the old plant.

I cannot yet speak to the specifics of the Nebraska convention, but the itinerary is generally as follows:

Friday - Host City Tour, Business Meeting, Tucker Memorabilia Auction
Saturday - Visit Automotive Museum and see Tucker car(s) on display. TACA Banquet in the evening.
Sunday - Farewell Breakfast

More information will be coming on the Nebraska Convention. Of course if you are not already a TACA member, joining will get you into the loop of all Convention news and registration information.

hello everybody. im 16. and i watched a video about the tucker in my auto tech class and immediately fell in love with the car. i had never seen it before, but after that, i realized that preston tucker was a genius. but what i dont understand is why everybody wanted to screw him over so badly. i mean, the man had amazing ideas. and does anybody know what he died of? my teacher said it was lung cancer because he started chain smoking when he lost his factory. but he wasnt sure on that. thanks.

I sincerely doubt that Preston Tucker started smoking more due to the loss of his factory. In past years, smoking was more or less taken for granted and more common than not. It was not until more recent years that smoking was shown to be a cancer causing habit - into the late 50s and early 60s in fact.
